Comic 001: Cold Entry

  1. Close-up of a commuter bicycle's chain and a slightly crooked front derailleur under orange streetlight.
He kept meaning to get it fixed.
  2. Wei Chen cycles along a dark waterfront path beside a low railing, car headlights sweeping around the curve behind him.
    Too fast. Too close.
  3. A passing car's side mirror clips the left end of the bicycle's handlebar, tipping the bike toward the railing and the harbour.
  4. Wei Chen struggles in black harbour water, weighed down by his delivery jacket and backpack, fumbling at the strap.
The water was so cold it felt solid.
  5. Wei Chen stands in the air above the harbour, looking down at his own body floating face-down, missing one shoe.
One shoe was missing. Somehow, that bothered him.
  6. Glowing gold text reading 'Error: soul classification pending. Status: unassigned. Routing initiated.' hangs beside Wei Chen, who looks unimpressed as the dark surface beneath him cracks.
    "Right."
